In November 2006 work began on a 4-reactor Thermal Hydrolysis plant for the pre-treatment of sludge prior to anaerobic digestion for Cotton Valley sludge treatment centre.
The centre is located at Milton Keynes Wastewater Treatment Works with a population equivalent of approx. 288,000 but will also import sludge from a similar population equivalent.
More than doubling throughput of the existing digesters and making capacity for the next twenty years and adding 1 MW of renewable energy.
